I wonder why they retained the Sauber part of the name in the BMW days but not now. It probably says more about the marketing plan rather than the team. I think Peter Sauber has no more links to the team now than Eddie Jordan does to whatever Racing Point will be known as in a couple of weeks time, but I also thought that was largely the case during the BMW days too. Either way, surely we are going to hear commentators referring to the cars as Saubers at least once every race weekend for some time yet aren't we?

Its a power play by Ferrari - removing the Sauber name brings the team completely under the FIAT banner and gives them extra leverage when the new contracts are re-negotiated

So Leclerc and Giovanazzi in at Sauber next year, with Kimi staying on at Ferrari for one more year while his replacement is assessed at the customer team.
