I don't really buy Vettel quoting the line about not going for a gap meaning you're no longer a racing driver as a valid defence of his move on Verstappen yesterday. While he made that move work several times on second tier cars later in the race, it just wasn't going to happen against one of the top three cars. He would have known Verstappen had a penalty so third place was guaranteed and from there I think Vettel would have taken second. At the end of the day I suppose that still wasn't going to help his cause greatly, but he threw away any chance of seizing the advantage if Hamilton were to run in to any sort of problem late in the race.

It also seems like Ferrari aren't getting as much out of their car any more either which doesn't make much sense - or did it just take Mercedes a long time to get to grips with their updates earlier in the summer?
