meh, Scotty pitted then they decided to end the race because of rain, Evil Stenhouse came 2nd because he had pitted way earlier right at the start... well i say Stenhouse... Stenhouse did the first few laps then got out and some random other person drove the rest of the race for him...

anywho... the person driving for Stenhouse got second and Scott got 8th so the gap is now reduced to 65 points with 2 races left to go.

you are telling me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) It is so confusing there are so many wild points given for stupid things... you can (so long as they are undercaution) go into the pits for like 4 laps or more and still rejoin in the same place. One minute you can be in the lead the next you can be at the back but it seems to suit Scott (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Speed to make Cup debut at Lowe's

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71035

Red Bull Racing Team have finally confirmed that Scott Speed will attempt to make his Sprint Cup debut at Lowe's Motor Speedway before taking over AJ Allmendiger's drive for the rest of the season. The team announced Tuesday that Allmendinger will be replaced from next weekend by veteran Mike Skinner, who had already filled in for him in five races at the start of the season. Skinner will driver the No. 84 car at Talladega and Lowe's, before handing it over to Speed.

The former Toro Rosso driver will try to clinch the ARCA RE/MAX series title at Toledo, while attempting to qualify for his Sprint Cup debut at Lowe's on the same weekend driving a third Red Bull entry, which he already tested successfully at the venue last month.

"I'm really looking forward to my first Sprint Cup race with Red Bull," Speed said. "I can't describe how much it means to walk into Red Bull Racing and feel support from everyone on the team.

"It's a huge step up the ladder and another step towards the goal of becoming a Sprint Cup champion for Red Bull. I know this team has the performance level that it takes to be competitive."

Red Bull Racing Team vice president Jay Frye said the decision to release Allmendinger and put Skinner and Speed in the car for the rest of the season is in the best interests of both parties.

"The schedule we put together is in the best interest of both Red Bull Racing Team and AJ's plans for the future," said Frye. "Allowing Mike Skinner and Scott Speed to share the No. 84 for the balance of the season helps our team continue developing our program for the future."

While Speed has his future set in the Sprint Cup next year with Red Bull Racing Team, Allmendinger still has to confirm what his plans are for the reminder of the season and next year, although he remains committed to staying in NASCAR.

Couldn't they just wait in 2 weeks time when Scott's season in ARCA is finished? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

because they are silly, I hope the qualfying doesnt affect his mind set for arca, it would be a shame for him to miss out on the championship because he was distracted by the sprint cup!

QUOTE
TOLEDO OH (10-11-08) - This weekend will mark the conclusion of an exciting season for the No. 2 Red Bull Toyota team as well as new adventures for Eddie Sharp Racing's Scott Speed. Speed and his team head to Toledo Speedway with an 85-point lead in the hunt for the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship title.

If Speed pulls it off, he'll be the first driver in eight years to win the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship whose name is not Frank Kimmel.

The team has consistently performed all season, finishing out of the top-10 only three times in 20 events. All it takes is one more top-10 finish and Eddie Sharp Racing will take home its first Championship. Patience and conservatism have been among the themes discussed for the weekend.

"If someone doesn't crash us or we don't break, we should be able to walk away with (the championship)," Speed said. "We just have to do what we've done all year. And that is show up and to do our best."

Making an impression on and off the track, Speed is tied for the most wins this season and most SIM Factory Pole awards, and leads the lists for the Championship, Aaron's Lap Leader, SunTrust Rookie of the Year, R.E. Lightning Challenge, and the Fast Track Award. Speed turned heads with his zebra driving shoes and out-of-the norm garage attire, but his performance on track this year in the ARCA and Craftsman Truck Series has locked him in as someone to watch for years to come. This weekend he is looking to wrap up the title and his ARCA career in true "Speed" fashion.

ESR has seen a lot of success at Toledo Speedway in the past. Last season teammate Ken Butler, III won the speedway's May race while ESR alum Michael McDowell took the victory in October. McDowell started each of the two events from the pole position. The Red Bull team is packing a weapon this weekend, the No. 2 Toyota that Speed wheeled to victory at Berlin Raceway in July is Speed's favorite short track Camry.

"We are excited about the opportunity to go to Toledo and win the Championship this year," said Crew Chief Patrick Donahue. "Last year we were locked into second and despite the win, couldn't take the title. Everyone is prepared for the weekend, just as we have been every weekend, all season. TRD is prepared, the team is prepared, the car is ready. We left Daytona, the only race we failed to finish, 38th in points. To come this far is something that every member of this team should be very proud of."

ARCA RE/MAX Series practice runs from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2008. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying follows Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, all cars line up on the front stretch in short-track fashion where the ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers will sign autographs from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. Driver Introductions begin at 1:15 p.m. The green flag for the Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire and Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway drops Sunday, October 12th, at 2:00 p.m. All times listed are EASTERN.

So at this stage Scott is on 4890 points and Ricky is on 4800.

Scott qualified 3rd & Ricky 4th.

So if Scott finishes 3rd, he will be on 5080 points, 2nd: 5085, 1st: 5090.

So all Scott has to do is keep Stenhouse behind him in the race. If he does, Scott will be Champion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

what scares me is that a few races back Scott called Stenhouse 'evil' and they arent the best of friends... I am worried that Scotty will get a little tap by Stenhouse at the start (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I see what you mean. It could turn nasty on the circuit, but hopefully that won't be the case.

I do hope Scott will be champion, because it will be super mega as it's his first full season in ARCA (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

LMFAO, ARCA is hilarious.

Stenhouse tapped Speed into the wall and Scott suffered bodywork damage and tyre damage on around lap 25, so Scott had to pit in to get the car sorted under caution.

Then, around 10 laps later, Scott was rejoining very slowly and Stenhouse was about to lap him for the 2nd time and Speed wanted to seek some revenge took him off delibrately and now Stenhouse had to pit and is basically out of the title race (IMG:style_emoticons/default/roflmao.gif) F**king hilarious. This made Scott's car even more damaged.

So to make things complicated 3rd in the standings is Alliager who is 3rd in this race looks on course for some very good points. Infact he'd leapfrog ahead of Scott by 40pts as things stand.

Lap 42 out of 200, so very long way to go.

Stenhouse is 6 laps down, Scott is 8 laps down.

Officials have 'parked' the number 2 car, Scott Speed, which I assume means he can't or rather is not joining the circuit again, which is why his team were not working on his car.

What a shame, he's been the best driver and is gonna lose it just when it looked like he had a safe lead.

Sam will not be a happy bunny.

Allgaier ARCA champ. Scott's great performances all year wasted, and drops from 1st to 4th in the championship.

Well that's the last time I tune into ARCA (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

So, from what you are saying the championship result was decided by the officials? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Thought that was only meant to happen in F1. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It started on lap 27 when Stenhouse, running third right behind Speed, got into the back of Speed headed into turn three. Speed drifted up the track and clobbered the wall, causing extensive damage to the right-side.

QUOTE
Scott Speed
"He (Stenhouse) was on my bumper and he pushed me flat out until I hit the wall," said Speed. "And then the car was completely undrivable; it wasn't even close. It was so bad from hitting the wall; I couldn't do anything with it. Stenhouse started it and he isn't going to win this championship with that attitude. That was ridiculous; that was the most blatant thing I ever saw in my life. Honestly, it's just ARCA; that's just how it is."

After losing a lap on pit road, Speed returned to competition, albeit way off the pace. Then, as the leaders, including Stenhouse, drove to the high side of Speed to put him another lap down, Speed turned right as Stenhouse was going by, sending Stenhouse hard into the turn two wall. The exchange also sent Speed into the inside wall causing further damage to his already wrecked car.

QUOTE
Evil Stenhouse
"Last time I was here (Toledo) I got into the rumble strips and that caused me to press down on my brakes and ride up the racetrack," said Stenhouse. "That's the same thing that happened today. I hit the rumble strips in [turns] one and two and that made me get into the brakes in three and four. Speed was there when my car rode up the racetrack, but it really wasn't intentional. I didn't really expect him to come after me after that but when I saw him slowing down on the track I knew that I was in trouble."

As a result, ARCA officials parked Speed for rough driving for the remainder of the race. The Manteca, California driver had already been on driving probation for incidents that occurred earlier in the season. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)
